Superbowl Steak Sandwich

Easy Steak Sandwich Recipe

I actually made my classic steak sandwich on Superbowl Sunday. The sandwich can be made with either ribeye or strip steak. I went with NY strip this weekend as it was on sale at my local store. Plan on using about 4 ounces of meat per sandwich. For best results, prepare the herb mayo the day before to allow the garlic and herbs to permeate throughout the spread.

1 lb NY Strip Steak, Cut into thin strips
1 large baguette of French Bread
4 Slices Havarti Cheese
1 tomato, Sliced
2 cups shredded lettuce (Ice berg)
Salt and Pepper, dash

Herb Mayo
¼ Cup Mayo
¼ teaspoon Oregano
½ clove garlic, minced.
Ground pepper, dash

1.Prepare herb mayonnaise by combining all the ingredients into a small bowl and set aside.
2.Preheat oven to 350
3.Pour about teaspoon of olive oil or butter into warm skillet over medium heat.
4.Saute strip steak until lightly brown. (About a minute or two on each side).
5.Remove meat and place on plate.
6.Cut baguette into four sandwich size pieces (about 5 – 6 inches).
7.Cut each roll lengthwise and spread herb mayo on both sides of bread.
8.Place lightly browned steak into bread opening.
9.Place slice of havarti cheese over steak roll.
10.Place on sheet pan and insert into oven for about two to three minutes.
11.Remove from sheet pan.
12.Top sandwich with lettuce and tomato and serve!
